Your character's stats are divided into six categories that will decide your character's strengths and weaknesses in both player vs player combat and events. You can also RP stat-less if you and any other participants in the thread agree to it, but please keep track of your stats regardless. Remember that just because your stats are higher than someone else's, does not mean you're guaranteed victory in a fight as it still comes down to player ability.
[break][break]
Each character begins with 60 stat points to distribute among the six sections as they please, but there must be at least one stat point in each category. At least five points per category is recommended. When you create your character, please place their stats in their tracker as well as your signature, and track your stats as your character grows. It's required. Once stats are distributed you are not allowed to move them, as that’s considered cheating.
[break][break][break]
[break]
If two character's engage in a fight, both contender's earn one exp to spend as they please. The fight must last more than four posts or no exp is earned. Stats can also be earned by writing an After Hours thread, as well as participating in events or quests. You are allowed to save your exp to be spent later. Faculty characters are unable to earn stat points in any of these ways. The only way for them to earn more is to complete class threads which will be graded by staff members.
[break][break]
Characters may also receive +1 EXP for every successfully completed thread. Conditions are in the spoiler tag below.
[break][break]
[break]
This means those who focus on plot or those who have characters who aren't yet fighters can still have some growth and not get left behind despite being active.
[break][break]
There are some stipulations, however:
[break][break]
You will not receive +1 EXP for fight threads, After Hours, Events, or any thread that already offers an EXP reward. This is to prevent abuse of the system. So fights won't be double EXP, After Hours will not grow to +4, etc. This includes Group AHs.
[break][break]
Solo and one-off threads will not count.
[break][break]
Threads you receive EXP from must be placed in your tracker. If there's a discrepancy or we feel like something suspicious is going on, we'll have to take a look at your stat history to make sure everything is in order. Completed threads won't have to be graded, so you can apply the EXP upon completion. But know that we keep a watchful eye out.
[break][break]
Threads with minimal effort will not be eligible for EXP. While we are a beginner friendly site, we'll know if you're only trying to abuse the system for easy EXP gain. Put in your regular effort when threading with people, and it'll be more than enough. If you have any doubts about if your thread is EXP worthy, contact any staff member and we'll give it a look for you. We just don't want to see a drop in quality of posts because they grant rewards now.
[break][break]
This is to try and encourage people to partake in creating more plots with other players, as well as giving more passive characters a way to grow. Those who spend a lot of time fighting won't be as effected by the change. Everyone else though has a way to keep up.
[break][break]
We'll be monitoring this system for some time to see how it works out. If it's good, we'll keep it and tweak it if needed. If it's abused, we may have to revoke it. So be on your best behavior, everyone! Happy threading!

Stat caps are in place to keep people from focusing on one single stat. The starting stat cap is twenty in each stat, any exp earned after all stats are maxed out can be saved.
[break][break]
Rank 1: 25 Max Per Stat - Starting cap
[break]
Rank 2: 30 Max Per Stat - 100 Posts
[break]
Rank 3: 35 Max Per Stat - 200 Posts
[break]
Rank 4: 40 Max Per Stat - 400 Posts
[break]
Rank 5: 50 Max Per Stat - 600 Posts
[break][break]
(More ranks will be added as characters grow.)
[break][break]
Here’s an explanation for each stat and the abilities they have.
[break][break]
Strength: This stat translates to how strong your character is. As this stat gets higher your character will be able to lift more, hit harder, and perform other acts of physical strength with more efficiency. However, without the Endurance stat to back this up, a character will likely damage themselves with an attack to powerful. For example, a 40 Str hit with 5 End is probably gonna total your arm.
[break][break]
Skill: This stat affects your character’s sense of perception, accuracy and their ability to perform acrobatic stunts, the last one being a trait shared with speed to an extent. Perception is you character’s ability to see and comprehend fast moving objects, as well as their combat knowledge. A person with high skill stats would not only be able to easily follow a quickly moving object, but they’re also very accurate marksmen and can pull off acrobatic feats like high jumping, gymnastics, climbing, and intricate martial arts moves. It should be noted that though a character might have a high enough skill stat to see a quick opponent’s moves, if they don’t have a high enough speed stat to match it they will still not be able to move their body’s as quickly as someone with a high speed stat.
[break][break]
Speed: This stat translates to how fast a character can run, attack, or even perform any everyday task like typing, doing homework, making dinner, and so on. Speed also shares a trait with skill in regards to acrobatics, so a character with high speed stats would be able to perform impressive acrobatics, but they would not have the marksmanship, climbing or martial arts abilities of a character with higher skill stats. Characters with speed levels high enough could potentially run along walls for a given time, and would also have a faster thought process than the average human being, a trait shared with intelligence. However, while they a character with high speed can think as quickly as a character with high intelligence, they will still not know as much or have the same reasoning abilities. Note that without skill stats to back up them up, a character running at a high speed will not be able to see where they’re going and will not have good reflexes.
[break][break]
Endurance: Characters with high endurance can resist powerful attacks and take less damage. With a high enough Endurance stat your character could eventually take a punch to the face and hardly feel it. This stat also translates to how long a character can continue doing strenuous activities such as running for long periods of time and lifting heavy objects. Without the proper amount of endurance, a character’s attacks could potentially damage themselves even more than their opponent.
[break][break]
Intelligence: This translates to your character's overall knowledge. Characters with a high intelligence stat will have extremely fast thinking processes and skill with technology and academics. A character with high intelligence stats can be excellent hackers, piece information together faster in events, create machinery, weapons, or explosives from household items, and so on. This stat also affects damage output of Tech items. However, without proper endurance a character's own Tech items can damage them.
[break][break]
Spirit: The higher this stat, the better a character is at leading groups, understanding other people’s motives, and convincing non-player-characters to do things for them. (Something that could be important in event threads.) Characters with high Spirit stats make excellent gang leaders. This stat also affects a character’s innate energy, commonly known as Renbu in the world of Hiraeth City. This allows them to perform supernatural attacks. However, if a character has low endurance, their own attacks could potentially harm them and knock them unconscious.
